Cancellation Policy

About this policy

This website accepts voluntary donations only. Nothing is sold here — there are no goods, no services, no tickets and no memberships, and there is nothing to send to you. This page explains what you can cancel, when you can cancel it, and what happens if you change your mind after you have already given.

This policy is issued by Shri Janki Vallabh Mandir Trust, the trust that operates Param Pujya Shri Visamanbapu Ni Jagya, Paliyad (also known as Vihaldham Paliyad) and this website, vihaldham.org. In this page, “the Trust” means Shri Janki Vallabh Mandir Trust and “you” means the donor.

This policy applies to every donation channel offered on this website: transfers to either of the Trust’s two current accounts at Bank of Baroda, Paliyad branch — one for the temple and one for the Gaushala (cow shelter) — and payments made using the QR code shown on the donation page. It will also apply to the online payment gateway with ICICI Bank once that gateway is live.

Before your payment is authorised

You may stop at any point before you authorise the payment, for any reason, and without telling anyone.

  • Choosing an amount, or choosing a donation category such as temple donation, Gaushala (cow shelter) donation, Shangar Daan, Amas Rasoi Daan, Thal Daan, Mandir Daan, Ghaschara Daan, Lapsi Daan or Tithi Daan, creates no obligation of any kind.
  • If you simply close the page, or do not complete the bank transfer, or do not complete the payment after scanning the QR code, no amount leaves your account and nothing is due to the Trust.
  • You do not need to inform the Trust, and the Trust will not contact you about a donation you did not complete.

At present, donations reach the Trust by bank transfer to its Bank of Baroda accounts at the Paliyad branch, or through the QR code shown on the donation page. An online payment gateway with ICICI Bank is being set up and is not live yet. When it goes live, this page will be updated to explain how a payment can be abandoned or cancelled at the gateway.

If your payment has been authorised but has not yet reached the Trust

A transfer is not always credited at once. A NEFT, IMPS or UPI payment, or a transfer you have scheduled for a later date, may show as pending or in process for some time before it reaches the Trust’s account.

  • The Trust cannot stop, hold or reverse a payment you have already authorised. It has no control over a transfer while that transfer is in transit.
  • Only your own bank can act on a payment that has been authorised but not yet settled, and only if its own rules allow. Please raise it with your bank as soon as you can.
  • Please do not send the amount a second time while the first payment is still pending. If both amounts are credited, the second is treated as a duplicate donation and is dealt with under our Refund Policy.
  • If the payment is later credited to the Trust and you did not intend to give it, please write to us and the request will be considered under the Refund Policy.

After the donation reaches the Trust

Once you have authorised the payment and the money has reached a bank account of the Trust, the donation is complete and cannot be cancelled. Donations are treated as offerings and are usually applied to seva soon after they are received — daily worship and prasad at the temple, and fodder and care for the cows at the Gaushala.

If something has genuinely gone wrong — for example the same amount was sent twice, an amount was sent by mistake, or the donation was meant for a different purpose — please write to us. Requests of that kind are considered under our Refund Policy (see “Related policies” below), not under this page.

No charge for cancelling

The Trust does not levy any cancellation, handling, processing or administrative charge on a donor, at any stage. There is no charge for stopping before you authorise a payment, for asking us to check a transaction, or for raising a request under the Refund Policy. No charge is applied either where the Trust itself decides to return a donation. Any charge your own bank or payment provider makes for a transfer is a matter between you and them.

If you are not sure whether your donation went through

  • Check your own bank or UPI application first. Your statement will show whether the amount has been debited and will give a reference number (UTR or UPI reference). That reference is the clearest record of the transaction.
  • If you see a debit but have no confirmation, please check with your own bank before doing anything else. Where an amount has left your account but has not reached the Trust, the transaction is between you and your bank. Please raise it with your bank, which will tell you what has happened and what timelines apply.
  • Please do not send the money again until you have checked. A second transfer is treated as a duplicate donation and is dealt with under the Refund Policy.
  • You can also ask us to check. Write to Paliyaddham1@gmail.com with the date, the amount, the reference number and the name on the account the money was sent from, and we will look at our bank statement and tell you what we can see.

The Trust issues a receipt on request. Please send us the transaction details so that the receipt can be prepared correctly. For donations to the Gaushala, a PAN number is needed if you wish to claim exemption under Section 80G.

Recurring and standing donations

The Trust does not operate recurring donations, standing instructions, automatic monthly giving or subscription donations of any kind. Every donation is a single, one-time offering, in an amount you decide at that moment.

This means there is nothing that repeats on its own, and therefore nothing for you to cancel or stop with the Trust.

If you have separately set up a standing instruction or an auto-debit with your own bank on your own initiative, only your bank can change or cancel it. The Trust has no ability to start, alter or stop such an instruction.

If the Trust ever introduces recurring donations, this page will be updated to explain how to stop them before any such facility is offered.

Communications from the Trust

If you have given the Trust your phone number or email address — for example when asking for a receipt or when writing to us — and you would prefer not to hear from us again, you may ask us to stop at any time.

  • Write to info@vihaldham.org or call +91 8758104040 and say that you do not wish to be contacted.
  • We will then stop contacting you.
  • We may still need to contact you about a specific donation you have made, or about a request you have raised with us, and we keep the record of the donation itself as part of the Trust’s accounts.

How the Trust handles the details you give it is explained in our Privacy Policy (see “Related policies” below).

Darshan photographs, e-books, the gallery and live darshan on this website are open to anyone who visits. There is no sign-up and nothing to cancel. Comments left on the website are moderated before they appear; if you want a comment of yours removed, write to info@vihaldham.org.

Donations sent from outside India

The Trust’s bank accounts are held in India and all donations are received in Indian Rupees (INR). The donation channels described on this website are meant for donations made from within India.

Whether a donation from outside India, or in a foreign currency, can be accepted depends on Indian law and on the rules that apply to the Trust’s bank accounts. [CONFIRM WHETHER THE TRUST IS PERMITTED TO ACCEPT DONATIONS FROM OUTSIDE INDIA – to be supplied by the trust]. If you are outside India and wish to give, please write to Paliyaddham1@gmail.com before sending any amount, so that we can tell you what the Trust is able to accept.

If an amount the Trust is not able to accept reaches its account, the Trust will arrange to return it to the account it came from. Any currency conversion difference or bank charge arising on such a transfer is a matter between you and your bank.

Donations the Trust may decline or return

The Trust may decide not to accept a donation, or may return one after it has been received. No cancellation charge is applied when the Trust does this. This may happen where, for example:

  • the source of the funds is unclear and cannot be satisfactorily explained;
  • accepting or keeping the donation would be unlawful, or would not be permitted under the rules that apply to the Trust’s bank accounts;
  • the donation appears to have been sent by mistake or by the wrong person;
  • conditions are attached to the donation that the Trust is not able to accept; or
  • something is expected in return that the Trust is not able or willing to give.

Where a donation is returned, the Trust will normally send it back to the same bank account it came from, and will tell you in plain words why it was returned.

Changes to this policy

The Trust may revise this policy from time to time — for example when the ICICI Bank payment gateway goes live, if the way donations are received changes, or simply to make the wording clearer. The version published on this page is the version that applies, and the “Last updated” date at the foot of the page shows when it was last changed. If some time has passed since your last visit, please read the page again before you give. Where a donation has already been received, the Trust will deal with it under the version of this policy that was published at the time the donation was made.

Related policies

This policy should be read together with the other policies published on this website: the Refund Policy, which covers requests to return a donation that has already been received; the Terms and Conditions, which cover the use of this website; and the Privacy Policy, which explains how the Trust handles the details you give it. Those pages are: Refund Policy, Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and the donation page.

Contact

Please write or speak to us before assuming anything has gone wrong. We are a small temple trust and we would rather answer your question than leave you worried.

We aim to acknowledge a written query about a donation within 3 working days, and to give you an answer within 7 working days of receiving the details we need. Where we have to ask a bank about a transaction, an answer may take longer; if that happens we will tell you, and we will keep you informed until the matter is closed.

When you write about a particular transaction, please include the date, the amount in INR, the reference number and the name on the account the money was sent from. All donations are received in Indian Rupees, and times mentioned by us are Indian Standard Time.

This policy is governed by the law applicable in Gujarat, India.
