This page explains what personal information the Trust collects through the website https://vihaldham.org, why we collect it, how we look after it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything here is unclear, please contact us using the details at the end of this page.

Who we are

The organisation behind this website is Shri Janki Vallabh Mandir Trust, a religious trust known publicly as Param Pujya Shri Visamanbapu Ni Jagya, Paliyad (also called Vihaldham Paliyad). We are based at Param Pujya Shri Visamanbapu Ni Jagya – Paliyad, Ta./Dist. Botad, Paliyad – 364720, Gujarat, India. In this policy, “the Trust”, “we” and “us” mean Shri Janki Vallabh Mandir Trust, and “you” means the person visiting the website or offering a donation.

What this website is for

The website exists to share darshan and information about the Jagya, and to allow devotees to offer voluntary donations. You decide whether to give, and you decide the amount. Nothing is sold on this website – there are no goods, no tickets, no memberships and no subscriptions – so there is nothing to send to you and nothing to return.

Reading the site – daily darshan posts, the photo gallery, the e-books and the live darshan video – does not require you to register or to give us your name or any other personal detail.

Your agreement to this policy

By using this website, by posting a comment, or by offering a donation, you agree that your information will be handled in the way described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the website and please do not send us your personal information. You are always welcome to come to the Jagya in person, or to telephone us, instead.

What information we collect

When you offer a donation

Donations today reach the Trust by bank transfer or by scanning the QR code shown on our donation page. The information that comes to us is:

• Your name, as it appears on the transfer or as you tell us.
• Your phone number and email address, if you give them to us so that we can reply to you.
• The donation amount, the date, and the transaction reference (UTR or similar) that you share with us when you ask for a receipt.
• The donation category you have chosen – for example temple donation, Gaushala donation, Shangar Daan, Amas Rasoi Daan, Thal Daan, Mandir Daan, Ghaschara Daan, Lapsi Daan or Tithi Daan.
• Your PAN – only if your donation is for the Gaushala and you want a receipt that lets you claim 80G tax exemption. If you do not want to claim 80G, we do not need your PAN and you need not send it. If you would rather not send your PAN by email, you may give it to us by post or by telephone using the details at the end of this page.

Payment details are never collected by us

The Trust and this website do not collect or store card numbers, CVV, UPI PIN, net-banking passwords, OTPs or any other payment credential. When you make a bank transfer or scan the QR code, that step happens inside your own bank’s app or website, not on ours.

The Trust is in the process of onboarding an online payment facility with ICICI Bank. It is not live yet. When it does become available, the payment step will be handled by the bank and its payment provider on their own systems; payment credentials will go to them and not to the Trust or to this website. We will update this policy at that time.

Please note: no one from the Trust will ever ask you for an OTP, a PIN or a password. If someone does, it is not us.

When you leave a comment

If you post a comment on the website, the website stores your name, your email address, the comment you wrote, the date and time, your IP address and your browser user-agent (the text your browser sends describing itself). The IP address and user-agent are kept to help us identify spam and abuse.

Your name and your comment become visible on the page once approved. Your email address, IP address and user-agent are not shown publicly. All comments are moderated before they appear.

The comment form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which helps us tell people apart from automated spam. reCAPTCHA is operated by Google and collects information about your device and how you interact with the page. Google’s own privacy policy and terms apply to that service – see Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.

When you simply visit the site

Like almost every website, our server keeps ordinary access logs. These record the IP address of the visitor, the date and time, the page requested, the browser user-agent and, sometimes, the page you came from. We use these logs only to keep the site running and to look into faults or attacks.

Cookies and content from other sites

• Our own cookies. The website uses a small number of cookies needed for it to work. If you tick the option to save your name and email in the comment form, the website stores those in cookies on your own device so you do not have to type them again.
• Google reCAPTCHA. The comment form loads reCAPTCHA from Google, which may set its own cookies and read device information, as described above.
• Embedded video. Live darshan and some videos are played through an embedded video player provided by YouTube, a service operated by Google. When you play an embedded video, that provider may set cookies and receive your IP address and device information directly. That happens between your browser and the provider; we do not receive it, and the provider’s own privacy policy applies.
• Embedded map. The footer of every page shows a small Google Map of the Jagya. Unlike the video, the map does not wait for you to click it – it loads on its own as soon as the footer comes into view, which on a short page is straight away. At that point Google receives your IP address and device information and may set its own cookies. That happens between your browser and Google, we do not receive it, and Google’s own privacy policy applies.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The site will mostly still work, but the comment form, the embedded video and the map may not behave properly.

Where this website links to, or loads content from, other websites and services – including Google’s – those are run by other organisations under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for how they work or for what they do with information. Please read their policies before giving them any information.

Why we collect this information, and nothing more

We collect personal information only for these purposes:

• To acknowledge your donation and to issue a receipt when you ask for one.
• To include your PAN on a Gaushala donation receipt where you wish to claim 80G tax exemption.
• To keep proper accounts of what the Trust has received, and to meet the Trust’s tax and record-keeping obligations.
• To reply to your questions and requests.
• To moderate and publish comments, and to keep the site free of spam and abuse.
• To keep the website running and secure.

We collect this information because you choose to give it to us – a donation, an enquiry and a comment are all voluntary – and, in the case of donation records, because the Trust has to keep accounts of the money it receives.

We use the information only for the purposes listed above. We do not use donation details for advertising, we do not build profiles of donors, and we do not take any decision about you by automated means. If we ever need to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask you first.

How long we keep it

• Donation records (name, contact details, amount, transaction reference, and PAN where given) form part of the Trust’s accounts and are kept for as long as our accounts and tax records need to be retained – [DONATION RECORD RETENTION PERIOD – to be confirmed by the Trust’s accountants].
• Comments and the details stored with them are kept for as long as the comment remains on the site. If you ask us to remove your comment, we will remove it and the details stored with it. Comments that are not approved in moderation are not published, and we may delete them.
• Enquiry emails and messages are kept only as long as we need them to deal with your query and to keep a sensible record of it.
• Server logs are kept for a limited period and then overwritten in the ordinary running of the server – [SERVER LOG RETENTION PERIOD – to be confirmed with the hosting provider].

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. Your details are shared only in these situations:

• The Trust’s bank. Donations are received into the Trust’s current accounts with Bank of Baroda, Paliyad branch (IFSC BARB0DBPYAD). Your bank and ours necessarily see the details of a transfer you make.
• The Trust’s accountants, who prepare and examine the Trust’s accounts and tax filings and therefore see donation records, including PAN where it has been given for 80G.
• Statutory authorities, where we are required by law to provide information, or where an authority with lawful power asks for it.
• The people who run the website and the server for the Trust, who may see stored information in the course of maintaining the site, and only to the extent needed for that work.
• Google. reCAPTCHA on the comment form passes information about your device and how you interact with the page to Google automatically, as described above.
• Our email service provider. Donation and receipt correspondence is received at a Google (Gmail) mailbox. Messages you send us – which may include your name, your donation details and, if you are claiming 80G, your PAN – are therefore stored on that provider’s systems under its own terms. If you would prefer not to send such details by email, please post them to us or telephone us instead.
• The provider of the embedded video player, in the limited and automatic way described above, when you play the live darshan or another embedded video.

We do not publish or display donor names on this website – in the daily darshan posts, the photo gallery or anywhere else – without asking you first.

When the ICICI Bank online payment facility goes live, payment information you enter at that step will be handled by the bank and its payment provider under their own terms and privacy policies.

Where your information is held

The website and the information stored with it are hosted by [WEBSITE HOSTING PROVIDER AND LOCATION – to be supplied by the Trust]. The Trust’s own donation records and accounts are kept at the Jagya in Paliyad, Gujarat.

Some of the services described above are run by companies based outside India. Information handled by them – the reCAPTCHA check on the comment form, the embedded video player, the map in the footer, and the mailbox at which donation and receipt correspondence is received – may be processed or stored on servers outside India, under those companies’ own terms. If you would rather your details did not travel in that way, please write to us by post or telephone us rather than sending email.

How we look after it

In plain terms:

• The website is served over HTTPS, so the connection between your browser and the site is encrypted.
• Access to the website’s administration area is limited to the few people who need it, and each of them signs in with their own account.
• Donation records and any PAN we hold are kept with the Trust’s accounts and are not published on the website.
• Comment moderation and reCAPTCHA are used to reduce spam and abuse.

We take care with the information you give us, but we cannot promise that any website or system is completely safe. We make no claim to hold any security certification or audit beyond the practical measures described here. If we become aware of a problem that affects your information, we will act on it and tell you where it is appropriate to do so.

Children

This website is meant for the general public and for devotees, and donations should be offered by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has given us personal information through the donation process or a comment, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices and your rights

You may ask us to:

• Tell you what we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong – for example a misspelt name on a receipt, or a wrong phone number.
• Delete your information. We will do this wherever we can. We may not be able to delete a donation record that forms part of the Trust’s accounts, because those records have to be kept; in that case we will tell you what we are keeping and why.
• Withdraw your consent – for example, ask us to stop contacting you, or ask us to take down a comment you posted. Withdrawing consent does not undo anything done before you withdrew it.

To make any of these requests, write to info@vihaldham.org, or phone or post to us using the details below. Please give us enough detail to find the right record – for a donation, the date and amount and the transaction reference help a great deal. We may ask a question or two to be sure we are dealing with the right person, so that we do not hand one person’s details to another. We aim to reply within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.

We will look into what happened and reply to you. We aim to acknowledge a grievance within three working days of receiving it, and to deal with it within 30 days. If our reply does not settle the matter to your satisfaction, you may write again, addressed to the trustees of Shri Janki Vallabh Mandir Trust at the postal address above, and you remain free to approach the appropriate authority under Indian law.

The law we work to

The Trust is in India, and this policy is written with Indian law in mind – in particular the Information Technology Act 2000 and the rules made under it concerning personal and sensitive personal data, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 as it is brought into force. What is set out here is our practice; we are not claiming any certification, audit or formal ruling of compliance.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time – for example when the ICICI Bank online payment facility becomes available, or if we change how the website works. The current version is always shown on this page, with the date it was last updated. Where a change is significant, we will say so on this page.
